About us

The church family at St Mary's is made up of people of all ages and various nationalities. St Mary's has developed an evangelical tradition over the years; however it is difficult to describe fully the rich variety of worship that takes place. There is an interest in and enjoyment of an wide range of worship styles, ranging from the Book of Common Prayer liturgy to Taize and Celtic forms of services. Once a month on Saturdays there is an 'alternative' service, known as Grace, which uses innovative forms of liturgy, ambient music and computer generated images.

Patterns of worship continue to change and evolve and St Mary's is committed to take advantage of the best that each church tradition has to offer. We aim to remain true to a scriptural basis of faith while developing a rich liturgy to develop both mind and spirit in order to help everyone experience the presence and love of God through His son Jesus Christ. Throughout the week, we hope to provide something for almost everyone to help them in their faith even if they have no church background.

There are groups for young people on Sunday mornings and on the first Sunday of the month all the church family worship together. Access to worship has been achieved by holding special services for people with learning difficulties and other disabilities. Physical access has been provided for wheelchair users. Our aim is to ensure that our church is fully equipped for its role as a local centre of worship both now and in the future.

We are a welcoming church family. Please come and join us!
